TSTU students visited the East Bavarian Technical University as part of the Russian-German winter school program

From November 26 to December 6, students of the Tambov State Technical University visited the East Bavarian Technical University in Amberg-Weiden (Germany) as part of the program of the Russian-German winter school "Advantages of high-strength materials".

Successful cooperation and interaction between the two universities has been developing for five years. These years were marked by a close and constant exchange of students, graduate students and teachers within the framework of the academic mobility program, internships, lectures, participation in international scientific and practical conferences and symposia, joint research and implementation of joint projects.

On the first day of the Winter School "Advantages of high-strength materials" students of Tambov State Technical University met with representatives of the Department of Public Works "Stadtwerke Weiden id OPF." The tasks of this department are to provide heat, electricity, gas, water (Stadtwerke also deals with wastewater treatment) of the city of Weiden and its environs. A representative from Stadtwerke spoke about three modern installations that provide heat and electricity to the entire Stadtwerke building and due to which the company has been able to reduce natural gas consumption since 2017.

Students of the Tambov State Technical University attended an open lecture by Professor Magnus Jaeger on electric power engineering and a lecture on alternative energy sources, which was delivered by Egor Kern, a graduate student of the East Bavarian Technical University. The problems of innovation in the field of gas engines / turbines were considered, a comparison was made of the electric power sectors of two countries: Russia and Germany. The students were able to visually study modern technologies in the domestic life of Germany, where 40% of the country's total energy is made up of alternative sources - solar panels and wind turbines - this is an important, and already integral, part of energy conservation in Germany. An equally interesting lecture was held at the Strobel Quarzsand quartz sand plant, after which the children had the opportunity to visit the quarry,

Cultural exchange is an integral part of educational mobility. The students managed to attend the grand opening of the Christmas holidays and visit the largest Christmas market in the city of Nuremberg, which allowed them to plunge into the atmosphere of the New Year holidays and the pre-holiday bustle.

TSTU students visited the wonderful city of Germany - Dresden, its cultural attractions - Zwinger, the opera house, Frauenkirche, got acquainted with the history and culture of the city, which was completely destroyed during the Second World War overnight. To restore architectural monuments and cultural heritage, unique methods of computer analysis were applied.

At the end of their stay in Bavaria, TSTU students, together with OTN partners and German students, made a symbolic 5-kilometer march in honor of the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, at the end of which they honored the memory of the victims of the war with a minute of silence.

It should be noted that the years of fruitful cooperation between Russia and Germany have given a powerful positive impetus to bilateral relations through the organization of numerous events, which contributes to strengthening the positive image of the two countries and increasing the efficiency of training qualified specialists for further Bavarian-Russian cooperation.
